Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested Tuesday on federal charges that accuse him of trying to benefit from his ability to appoint President-elect Barack Obama's replacement in the U.S. Senate.

- That's what I thought I did 10 years ago...buy a house I could easily afford. In addition, I saved money and I always pay cash for a car and pay off my credit cards monthly. But now that my salary is 50% of what it was, I can't pay all of my monthly bills.

- I don't think anyone was surprised that it was an affair, including his staff. It's no wonder that nothing gets done at all levels of government...everyone is too busy having affairs. Our country is in sad, sad shape.

- Sorry, have no pity for this lady. I had to take a 40% paycut at age 58 and I still pay off my credit cards each month. How any adult does not know not to spend more than they earn (applies to our government too), is beyond me.

- He probably did get scammed, but the store owner did the right thing. I can't honestly say that I could be as kind. I give the store owner a lot of credit.

What should the government do about the AIG bonuses?

- I would not want the government jumping in and ripping up a contract that I had between myself and my employer regarding a bonus if I had EARNED it based on the contract stipulations. I would expect that contract to be valid.
What should the government do about the bonuses going to AIG executives?

- A contract is a contract and should be honored if all conditions have been met. AIG should ensure that all conditions of the contract have been met. Congress should have known about these bonus contracts before they gave AIG any money and decided to become "owners" of AIG.
